Masters tales

Tyler Keevil and the Burrard Inlet

I have problems with some books. They get into my head and then never leave. ‘The Burrard Inlet‘ is one of them. They are a selection of short stories all connected by the Inlet.

Set in Canada is explores just what humanity is, the good and the bad. The actual inlet divides Vancouver’s north shore from the Lower Mainland, but it could be set anywhere that fishing and tree’s are the main economy. Characters battle not only themselves but also their surroundings and each other.

The writing is attention grabbing and lean. They are all set around male characters and as you move through the book you read about the macho stereotype to the modern man, and his attempt to live within the strict social code of the north. If you like disasters, and stories that allow you to see into a characters soul, then this is the book for you.

The daily prompt has asked if I were to meet ET what book, film or song would I recommend. Well, right at this moment it would have to be The Burrard Inlet. Get a copy and read it, you won’t be disappointed.
